Living In The Moment

Filed in: Personal

It was a fabulous weekend! Having my family in town made me really excited that there’s only 2 days standing between us and a little break for Thanksgiving. I loved finally having them in our new apartment, with everyone crowding in our teeny kitchen, whipping up cocktails and appetizers as we normally do at home. I’ve needed their help with the final touches on the apartment and now that we have just a few things to finalize, I can’t wait to post a home tour soon! The women in my family are so talented at just walking into a room and telling you the last little details you need to complete the space. I’ve been searching the world of Craigslist (I’m an addict…) and have a few little DIY projects on my mind.. so stay tuned!

Although it wasn’t planned, it was a weekend I spent away from my camera. As a photographer that can feel counterintuitive, but sometimes the best way to live life…is to actually live it. Step away from the iPhone, the camera, the tablet, and just be in the moments that are happening around you. I think it’s very hard for photographers to do that, and I’ve even had people question my passion for the art when I was caught without my camera in my hands. But I’ve found that the feeling of missing something/someone can do wonders and living in the moment can bring new inspiration and vision to your current work. And with the new year just around the corner, I feel so excited, motivated, determined, and open to what this next year will bring. Cheers and Happy Monday!

Love this Natalie – and so true, the last couple years as I started shooting more and more for other people I have shot less and less for myself. Sometimes, you just need to take a break and enjoy the moments 🙂
